En este mes de septiembre de 2022 cumplo 5 años de haber iniciado este emprendimiento como traductora jurada de inglés y español. Lo que inició como una curiosidad, del gusto por los idiomas, hoy en día es una profesión apasionante que me encanta ejercer. He conocido muchas personas en este camino que se han acercado a mí por diversas razones, desde estudiantes aplicando a licenciaturas, maestrías y becas, empresas importando y exportando sus productos, abogados realizando trámites para sus clientes, familias solicitando visas en otros países, hasta parejas que buscan casarse en Guatemala o en el extranjero.
Oficialmente son 5 años, pero llegar aquí implica varios años de estudio más otro par de años en el engorroso trámite judicial y administrativo para obtener el título de traductora jurada otorgado por la República de Guatemala. Sin duda alguna, es una profesión que implica conocer, aprender e investigar sobre diversas áreas (aunque mis áreas favoritas siempre serán la legal y la académica).
Agradezco a todas las personas que, aún sin conocerme (en su mayoría), han confiando en mis servicios. Estoy segura que todos ellos han quedado satisfechos, pero, sobre todo, han logrado exitosamente el trámite para el cual solicitaron una traducción.
Con esta entrada inauguro mi nuevo blog, donde estaré compartiendo información sobre los diversos temas jurídicos y de traducción de los que me preguntan los clientes con más frecuencia. Espero sea un espacio de enriquecimiento para ustedes.

This month of September 2022, is the 5th anniversary since I started my business as a certified translator of English and Spanish. What started as a curiosity, because I like languages, today is an exciting profession that I love to practice. I have met many people during this journey, that have approached me for several reasons. Students applying to scholarships, bachelors degree and masters degree programs, companies importing and exporting its products, lawyers working on different procedures for their clients, families applying for visas in other countries, and even couples looking to marry in Guatemala or abroad.
Officially, 5 years have passed. However, getting to this point has involved several years of study plus another couple of years in the complex judicial and administrative procedure to obtain the title of certified translator granted by the Republic of Guatemala. Without any doubt, this is a profession that implies knowing, learning and researching about different areas (but my favorite ones are always going to be the legal and academic areas).
I want to thank all the people that, without even knowing me (most of them), have
trusted in my services. I am sure that all of them have been satisfied but, above all, they have successfully achieved the objective for which they requested the translation.
With this entry I begin my new blog, where I will be sharing information about different legal and translation topics that the clients frequently ask about. I hope this to be an space of enrichment for you.
