Viajar con tu mascota puede darte tranquilidad porque sabes que tu amigo peludo está seguro y bien cuidado. No tendrás que preocuparte por dejarlo en casa o al cuidado de otra persona, lo cual puede dar ansiedad a muchos dueños de mascotas.
No olvides que para que tu amigo de cuatro patas pueda acompañarte, debes cumplir con los requisitos de viaje específicos del país de destino para que tu mascota sea admitida, así como también cumplir con lo que la empresa de transporte en la que se realizará el viaje te solicite.
En Guatemala, la documentación esencial para poder salir del país con tu perro o gato es la siguiente:
Certificado de salud emitido por un médico veterinario guatemalteco activo;
Carné de vacunación que indique las vacunas que fueron aplicadas;
Certificado zoosanitario internacional de exportación emitido y legalizado por el Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería y Alimentación (MAGA) y con apostilla del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (MINEX).
Fotocopias de los documentos anteriores.
Por otro lado, si el perro o gato proviene del extranjero y quieres que se admita su ingreso a Guatemala, debes presentar lo siguiente:
Certificado sanitario de exportación original del país de origen; o
Certificado de salud emitido por un médico veterinario activo del país de origen;
Fotocopias de cualquiera de los dos documentos mencionados anteriormente.
Ten presente que, si te diriges a un país de habla inglesa, debes además presentar la documentación traducida al inglés. Asimismo, si quieres que la mascota ingrese al territorio guatemalteco, es imprescindible que todos los documentos que se encuentren en un idioma distinto al español sean traducidos al español para que tengan validez.
Planifica con antelación tu viaje para que tanto tú como tu amigo peludo lo disfruten.

Copies of all the aforementioned documents.
On the other hand, if the dog or cat comes from abroad and you want it to be allowed to enter Guatemala, you must submit the following:
Original export sanitary certificate from the country of origin; or
Health certificate issued by an active veterinarian from the country of origin;
Copies of either document mentioned above.
Keep in mind that, if you are going to an English-speaking country, you must also present the documentation translated into English. Likewise, if you want your pet to enter Guatemalan territory, it is essential that all documents written in a language other than Spanish are translated into Spanish to be valid.
